Caring for your new piercing

Good aftercare is mostly about keeping it clean and leaving it alone. Every client leaves with instructions, and you can always call us with questions.

The basics

  • Clean the piercing with sterile saline once or twice a day.
  • Don’t twist, spin, or play with the jewelry.
  • Wash your hands before touching anywhere near a healing piercing.
  • Keep makeup, lotions, and hair products off the area.

What to avoid while healing

Skip pools, hot tubs, lakes, and the ocean until you’re healed, and avoid sleeping directly on a fresh ear piercing. Healing times vary by placement — lobes are quick, cartilage takes longer.

Check-ins and downsizing

Many piercings benefit from a downsize once the initial swelling goes down. Stop in or call and we’ll take a look and swap jewelry if needed.

If anything ever looks or feels off, call Alien Phone Tattoo — we’d rather help early.
